The First AO game

Posted by Hitroki Tabari on January 29th, 2009

We as gamers deal every week with the ESRB games rating system. Any one of us can quote off the games that brick and mortar stores carry, but there is one rating that can kill any game faster than bad reviews that’s the AO rating.
I can remember three mainstream games that got the rating but had to be either changed or pulled off shelves they’re Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas, Manhunt 2, and the Punisher. I’ve got a scenario where an AO game would be released.
The biggest problem with AO games is how to keep the games out of the hands of those who shouldn’t. First the disturibution method forget brick and mortar this would only be available on Steam, Direct 2Drive, or direct from the publisher. This game is a PC game with direct X10 support so people with advanced gaming rigs can play. Here is how you card to make sure who’s buying the games it can only be bought with a major credit card that makes sure that if a minor gets the game on his/her computer they either had a parnets permission or stole a credit card to get it.
Now what that AO game would be it would be a…superhero game. Not a hardcore killing joke game, but you’re on the right path this game would even have boobies in the tutorial in fact you play as the rapist in a ‘detalied’ scene the tutorial ends when you’re guy is killed by the real hero in the game Frank Castle, the punisher that’s right this would be an interpretaion of the Born story arc which dealt with the punisher in Vietnam in fact the graphic novel is so violent you have to be 17 to buy it, funny about the same age to buy an M-rated game. The Born game would spare nothing for violence, also with a focus on powerful rigs developers could have reign to show realistic looks of shock when shot or show realistic battle damage.
I close by answering one more question how to advertise this game? What I suggest is advertise in the reprint of the born graphic novels and others that you have to 18+ to buy. That way you hit both people who are mature enough to handle that kind of material and comic fans.
