Just got finished playing street fighter 4 with the much talked about arcade stick controller let me tell you right off the bat that this is made by the infamously crappy third party peripheral maker madcatz. Even I tend to categorize anything I see with that companies logo as being a piece of crap, poorly made that would probably break right after you unbox the product. To further the case the only place that I’ve been able to find it retail is in gamestop, which makes it that much more suspect. So seeing the price tag of $69.99 was a little daunting to say the least. After playing with the controller I have to say that this time it looks like someone in that company actually cares about the consumer base. The buttons feel closer to the ones I played with when these games were in the arcades about fifteen years ago. As a nostalgic gesture they throw in a card that has the moves listed for all of the players that are available at the beginning of the game. They are mapped in a 8-button configuration the top row (punches) consisting of square, triangle,r1, and l1 the bottom(kicks) x, circle, r2 and l2. In the top left corner you have turbo button for you chun li/E.Honda players followed by a set of Led lights that correspond to each button. followed by two sets of switches the top being labeled LS (left analog) DP(directional pad) and RS(right analog stick) the bottom is the classic lock the button keys, the only practical reason I would have for this is for practical jokes for smack talking sessions. You can hear the click on the control knob which felt a little cheap more akin to classic madcatz. Another complaint that I had was the start and select buttons are on the front of the joystick making pausing for the beer run feel more cumbersome than it should be but, most importantly the controller was responsive is of course is crucial in any fighting game. When you open the box the artwork that greets you is a group pic of the original warriors from street fighter two minus the shadoloo boss characters.
In pub tradition I rate this controller a corona extra although its not the best street fighter branded controller out there, that honor goes to the Street Fighter four tournament edition fightstick its priced at the are you kidding me price of $449.97 new on Amazon. com right now its the best a person with a little extra disposable income can do.

To say that F.E.A.R. 2 has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years is a little bit of an understatement. Sierra owned the franchise name and, up until the Activision-Blizzard merger, the company was supposedly working on its own F.E.A.R. sequel. What was Monolith to do? How about hold a contest to see what the Fans would choose, except the name F.E.A.R could not be used in the title, and thus Project Origin was born. Many feared that without the F.E.A.R name attached many fans would simply overpass this sequel. Rumors started to swirl that Sierras version of F.E.A.R was not doing so well, so in a dire effort Warner Bros. sent over a monetary peace offering, and back came the rights to the franchise name. Warner Bros. and Monolith were now left to deal with the original name and the name that’s been used in all the marketing up till then. Their answer was F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin! And here is my review…

The Hunter Manhattan Spirit (Ghostbusters’s Ecto 1), Hunter Cavalry Bootlegger (The Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee) and Carson GT Nighthawk (Knight Rider’s KITT) will be available this week for $1.99 this Thursday, February 19th. As will the Jensen 88 Special (Back to the Future’s DeLorean) but at a higher price tag of $3.99. The entire four-car bundle will be available for the cheaper price of $7.99.
Yes, those are the prices of Criterions new Burnout DLC due this week. And guess what even with all the free shit they have given us cheap ass mo-foes are still complaining about this price. So I dug into my Criterion contacts to see why this was going to be offered at such a steep price? Here is the answer I got “We here at Criterion know what you want, and we are prepared to give it to you. You must realize that in doing so we are pissing off a bunch of Hollywood types and we expect to get our Asses sued. We don’t care. Because we are fucking Rock n Roll…. but, we still have to feed our families and the extra little cost will help us pay for legal fees. So please don’t be lil bitches and go buy our DLC.” I don’t know about you guys but that answer was good enough for me..Burnout DLC consider yourself bought!

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed Dead Space™ Extraction, an all-new chapter from the studio that delivered the award-winning action-horror Dead Space game. Built from the ground up and developed exclusively for the Wii™, Dead Space Extraction is a prequel that reveals the events leading up to Isaac Clarke’s mission on the USG Ishimura in the original Dead Space game released in 2008. Dead Space Extraction will marry the innovative motion controls of the Wii Remote with a frenetic first person perspective to create a new action-packed horror experience.
Dead Space Extraction tells the story of a handful of space colonists desperately struggling to escape from a horrific infection on the Aegis VII mining colony deep in the furthest regions of space. The game introduces a new heroine to the fiction and as the crew fall victim to a mysterious contagion aboard the ship, it becomes clear that protecting her may be their only hope for survival. Dead Space Extraction introduces all new characters, weapons, enemies, puzzles and co-operative multiplayer gameplay.
“We could not be more excited to extend Dead Space into an experience exclusive to the Wii. Nintendo has a wonderful history in the horror genre and we are thrilled to build on that tradition with Dead Space Extraction,” said Glen Schofield, VP and General Manager of EA Redwood Shores studio. “As we were developing Dead Space, we realized that there was so much of the story going untold. Dead Space Extraction tells that story with all of the intensity, blood and gore that fans would expect.”
Dead Space Extraction is an EA Redwood Shores title and is scheduled to ship in fall of this year, but will it be enough to get us up and actually play on our dusty system.

Cliff and Norm with the golden nectar that is BEER!
Few could be proclaimed more educated in the ways of beer than Cliff Clavin and Norm Peterson from the old NBC show, Cheers. Here’s a bit of ‘take home’ wisdom Cliffy dispensed to Norm. This nugget of information can be found all over the interwebs, but I wanted to make sure it was enshrined here at the Pub.
“Well ya see, Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
“In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”
