World Cyber Games Grand Final in Seattle This Week

The event is sponsored by Samsung, and several other partners, including Microsoft.  Earlier in the day, there was a press conference, where Jeff Bell spoke, along with Lt. Governor of Washington State Brad Owen, WCG officials, and partners.  At the event, Samsung announced that they are donating 600 Samsung monitors to Seattle’s Technology Access Foundation, a group dedicated to helping underserved communities of color enhance their education with better learning tools.

At the WCG Grand Finals this weekend, gamers will be competing on PGR 3, DOA 4, Gears of War, Tony Hawk’s Project 8, StarCraft: Brood War, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Counter-Strike, FIFA 07, Need for Speed: Carbon, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs, and Carom3D.

The event is open to the public, and we have a big booth there.  We have dozens of Xbox 360 and Games for Windows kiosks set up where attendees and spectators can try out the latest games.  I personally spent a little more time than I should have with Guitar Hero III and PGR 4 last night.

Trixie is there too, answering questions about Gamerchix, and hanging out with attendees.  Stop by and say hi if you’re there!  On her blog, she gives an overview of what’s happening tonight, and this weekend, and points out this little-known fact:
